21-year-old dies while in custody after injuries sustained in Montreal jail from an altercation with an officer

Nicous D'Andre Spring, 21, also known by his artist name Yk Lyrical, sustained serious injury following an altercation on Christmas Eve with an officer while in custody.

Nicous D'Andre Spring, lost consciousness after an officer performed a "physical procedure" on him inside the jail.

The Sûreté du Québec has yet to release more details of the incident, however, the officer in question has been suspended.

A candle lighting for Nicous has been organized and will be held this Friday evening to pay hommage to the young man
