CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ACCUSING FORTNITE OF BEING TOO ADDICTIVE AUTHORIZED BY QUEBEC COURT

BY CHRISTOPHER CALE
A Quebec judge has authorized a class action against the popular online video game Fortnite after parents argued it was too "addictive."

The suit was first brought to the courts three years ago by 3 Quebec parents who claimed that Fornite was designed to addict its player base to the game.

Justice Sylvain Lussier issued the ruling on Wednesday after hearing arguments in July regarding the class-action request from three parents who described how their children had symptoms of severe dependence after playing the game.

According to the original filing, the plaintiffs say their children exhibited troubling behaviors, including not eating, not showering, not sleeping, and no longer socializing with their peers.

They claim Fortnite is "highly addictive" and that the game causes psychological, physical, and financial harm to their children. They are all seeking damages from the company.
