HOMELESS MAN TESTIFIES AGAINST MONTREAL POLICE WHO THREATENED TO EXECUTE HIM

BY MICHAEL HURLEY
Over a decade later, a homeless man is testifying against two Montreal police officers who allegedly kidnapped, insulted, and threatened to kill him.

It happened 12 years ago. Levasseur was in downtown Montreal making a scene over an alleged thief stealing his money. Officers arrived on the scene and handcuffed him over his antics and took him to a police station near Sainte-Catherines Street. This is where Levasseur's story takes a turn. The officers proceeded to put a garbage bag over his head and force him into a vehicle.

As they drove off, Levasseur recalls the officers insulting and belittling him, even suggesting he kill himself. After arriving in a neighborhood Levasseur was not familiar with, they left him there, but not before making him kneel as they pressed a gun to his head, with the garbage bag still on, saying they would do what he didn't have the courage to do. The officers then left the scene.

Guay and Furlotte, the two officers in question, were arrested with pay by Montreal police in 2018.
