QUEBEC HAS STARTED GIVING OUT THEIR INFLATION RELIEF PAYMENTS
BY MICHAEL HURLEY
Quebec began rolling out their one-time anti-inflation cheques last week, which range from $400-600 depending on the individual. Premier Francois Legault and the CAQ promised these cheques at the start of his re-election campaign, with many critics claiming that this was an attempt to buy voters. The CAQ will be distributing these cheques to an estimated 6.5 million Quebecers.
The exact value of your check depends on your 2021 income and will only be available to those who have filed their taxes. Citizens with a net income of $50,000 or less will receive $600, while those with an income between $50,000 to $100,000 will receive $400. The one-time payment to 6.5 million Quebecers will cost the CAQ $3.5 billion.
